Father Enther Kendrick

High Harvestmaster

“I do not need eyes to see the goodness in your heart; you will choose the right path. I have faith in you.”

The eyes of the High Harvestmaster are wreathed by wrinkles and faded to a milky white, clouded over by blindness. This misfortune has done nothing to stint his kindness, nor his faith in Chauntea. His worn robes are still immaculately clean, his hair closely shorn and his beard neatly clipped, though you can see he has cut himself on occasion.

A kind and gentle man, Enther Kendrick has been the High Harvestmaster in the Church of Chauntea for many years; he also serves on the village council. His eyesight failed many years ago, but he continued his ministry. Some of the villagers of Devlin’s Dower provide him with meals and wash his robes, but he also has a constant companion: a filthy, mute young orphan girl, called Twig. Twig follows Father Kendrick like a shadow, doing small tasks for him and keeping him safe from harm. With the help of the Twig, Father Kendrick is able to travel far and wide without losing his way.

Father Kendrick’s voice betrays his age, but he still speaks with conviction and does not waste words on idle chatter. The High Harvestmaster dwells in a humble cottage adjacent to the grand Harvest Hall, which is known locally as The Rose Garden.

“Do not grieve for what is lost; the turn of the seasons brings renewal and fresh wheat grows in the fallow field.”
