Sir Hugo Dyer

Hedgewarder

“Good neighbours grow rich together; let’s not let these little trifles impoverish us all”

You’ve watched Sir Dyer grow old over the years, his blond hair thin and fade to white, but he has never lost the twinkle in his blue eyes, nor the curl in his moustache. The old bravo still wears his fancy cravats and chats to all the young ladies at the Groomsman’s Rest.

Sir Dyer has been the Hedgewarder at Devlin’s Dower for more than more than thirty years, where he keeps the peace between neighbours and serves on the village council. He may seem all charm and idleness, but this only conceals a canny mind and an effective grasp of reverse psychology. At his age, roving about the countryside has lost its allure, and he fulfils most of his duties without stirring from his snug at the Groomsman’s Rest.

Originally a knight errant from Elturel, he arrived in the Dower in the company of his friend Sir Lamlas Aloro, the Knight of Flowers. Following Sir Lamlas’ sad demise, he has remained in town ever since, living in constant hope that his friend may be freed from his curse.

“Every man can be made to see sense, as long as he thinks it was his own idea”
